On 9 October 2024, the 17th International Technology Transfer Conference (ITTC) was held at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia, dedicated to strengthening knowledge transfer and innovation in research organisations. This year's main theme was self-evaluation of research organisations, which is key to improving transfer capacity and innovation development.
Rudolfovo - Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto actively participated in the conference with two teams presenting innovative projects, while colleagues also contributed to the organisation of the event.
The first team, composed of Tomaž Jakša, Dr Nika Brili, Anže Štepic and Dr Krištof Debeljak, presented the idea of SadjAR. It is an advanced application that uses Augmented Reality (AR) technology to provide farmers with effective remote advice. Their presentation highlighted the enormous potential of AR in agriculture, as it enables faster and better decisions in fruit and vegetable production.
The second team, consisting of Dr Slavko Arh and Silvano Bizjak, presented an innovation in improving existing heating systems. By redesigning elements that improve energy efficiency, they presented a solution that reduces the consumption of fossil fuels and electricity, which represents an important contribution to a more sustainable economy.
Dr Krištof Debeljak presented a paper entitled Connecting Education and Academia - Presentations of Selected Research Topics and Proposals for Collaboration in the parallel session " Connecting Education, Innovation and Industry in Novo mesto". His presentation highlighted the important role of Rudolf's in connecting local schools, research institutions and industry. By giving young people access to modern technologies and offering them an insight into future career opportunities, they contribute to the development of an innovative and technologically advanced environment.
