{Rudolfovo celebrates Exascale Day with hands-on training on parallel computing

Last Friday, 25 October 2024, {Rudolfovo - Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto organised a hands-on training "Parallel computing with R", which took place within the Exascale Day - SLING Open Day. The event, led by Prof. Dr. Janez Povh, Director of {Rudolfovo, attracted participants eager to gain in-depth knowledge on how to speed up the computation of data models in the R programming language.

The training focused on the efficient use of locally available computational kernels to execute parallel processes. Participants gained insight into the use of loops and functions in the R programming language and learned how to optimise code with the parallel and doParallel packages and the Rcpp library to speed up computations using C++.

Exascale Day, held annually on 18 October, celebrates the future of supercomputing, where performance exceeds the capabilities of 1 exaFLOPS (10^18 operations per second). In this way, Rudolfovo joins a global movement to promote and educate the future of computing.
